A stock STi is enough to handle an M3 ina straight line.

In the twisties just a rear sway bar, end links and perhaps some coilovers.

D'oh...I didn't know you meant at speed. I thought STi had a faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile? Oh well...gonna just have to throw on some NOS

A couple of my friends have M3's and basically from an 80mph roll you are going to need a turbo and some decent tuning to hang with one especially if it has any mods. From 3rd gear on they are a monster, 1st and 2nd they aren't too spectacular but Highway speeds they rolleth out. STI is by no way a Highway dominant car, but from a stand you should be able to beat one.

I drove my friend's a couple times acceleration wise they go from 60-120 just about as fast as we go from 0-60, probably an exageration but it sure as hell feels like it when you drive one. I kept my foot in the gas and just went through gears, and in no time at all I was going 160.

Play to your strengths, and Highways aren't one of them.

oh and um, the M3 is a lot more stable at speed than the STi. the aerodynamics of the car, while not as good as true sports cars like porsches etc., are dramatically better than the brick wall plow sti bulldozing through the air at over 100.

140 felt ridiculously stable in the M3 whereas 120 feels pretty skittish already in the STi.
