For the last couple of months, I've been seeing quite a few VW R32's in SF. They're pretty nice looking rides, but why is it that the ones I've run across are driven by dumb@$#e$??
Each and everytime I've seen them, the owners start acting like they're Schumacher or something and launch from stoplights and slalom through traffic.
I really don't like to wish ill will on people, but perhaps these guys need a wake up call from SF's finest.

hahaha last time I saw an R32 on Sunset Blvd going WOT by himself at each light. You know how the lights are timed...basically 35 mph through each intersection and you won't have to stop. This guy goes 60+ mph and has to wait at each stoplight while everybody catches up. After the end of Sunset Blvd, that goes into Golden Gate Park, he does a U-turn and does the same thing. Since I live close, I hear him doing this over and over for 30 minutes

uh... slow Golf? It might only do 0-60 in 6, but is handles like a gem. VW has gotten raves from many car oficianado magazines for the overall design (btw, if you mated a GTI with Audis AWD, plus threw in the bodykit package and 240hp engine, you would far exceed the 30K asking price).
I agree it is overpriced, but I like that car a lot

okay...I paraphrase, but that's the gist I get from all the car mags. If you wanted a smooth, well appointed daily driver, why not just get a frickin' camry or accord?

Does he go drifting on the road around Lake Merced too?
Sometimes I think NOBODY knows that Sunset Blvd lights are timed.

I've seen one R32 and had the same experience.
He was sitting at a stop light (specifically the light where alta-arden merges with arden heading towards cap city freeway). He's just illin, still got paper plates. I pull up next to him and stop. He apparently feels threatened by my machismo and revs a little. Light turns green and he goes full throttle. I go normal speed and catch him at the light, where he's waiting to make a left turn on to Challenge Dr. But I had been put in my place.
