I can imagine getting reved on so much can be disconcerting. I have been asked to race only once by some kid in an old cavalier (I didn't race). I have gotten admiring stares at my red wagon. And I also had an Evo drive by making his aftermarket BOV go off (It sounded so cool).

Some people recognize what you have and admire your car. I consider it like a compliment. I bet several of those guys know they cannot beat you but want to see the exceptional acceleration of the WRX.

A guy I knew in High School once reved on a better than average motorcycle with his tuna cruiser. When we asked him why, knowing the cycle would burn him. He replyed he just wanted to have fun.

I like motorcycles but don't own one. I think they are not as safe compared to cars. But I love when those dudes with the high CC Japanese race bikes open it up and TAKE OFF (only when there is no traffic, safe environment). At a light I have said a few times to one of those guys "cool cycle, dude romp on it for me". Some of the time I get to see some awesome acceleration.

If I see a cool car and the guy didn't seem stuck up and our windows were down. I might say "hey man nice ride, get on it for me." Because I like fast cool looking cars of all kind.

If it bothers you alot or if you are concerned about safety (some people do take it way to far). I suggest de-badging the car and if you have the money switch the top mount intercooler and hood scoop for a more stealthy front mount.

Wow you really hate SRTs.... and all american cars for that matter it seems. Dodge has been making turbocharged vehicles since the mid 80's. Dodge doesn't have a clue when they made the Viper. Chevrolet doesn't have a clue when they made the Vette. Ford doesn't have a clue when they made the GT40. The SRT was AIMED for a specific market. The one that was dominated by Civics and Integras for the most part. I believe Dodge DID have a clue. The FWD class. This was their target market. Not that of Impreza's and Lancer's. The only thing semi rice about the car that you couldn't say the same about a WRX or STi would be the hood scoop. However, it IS functional. It routes air under and through the engine compartment. Don't forget the non turbo Imprezas had it too. Was that rice on Subaru's part? The wing DOES create downforce not for traction but for stability at higher speeds. Ever notice how the rear end of SRT's are quite a bit higher than the front? It was tested in a wind tunnel. Dodge did not just throw it on for no reason. Red calipers? STi's have them too. Bezeled gauges? You guys have them too.

I actually had a lot more people rev on me and try to race me when I'm stock. Now that my car's dropped with a coffee can exhaust and a pretty loud bov I haven't raced or been revved on since.

The only car to "ask" me to race was a CHP cruiser.
I politely declined his invitation.

I love a lot of american cars, new Z06, 69' GTO, Buick Grand Nationals. Just to name a few. But for the most part american cars are junk, most of the ones I like aren't reliable, and they all except the new Z06 get bad gas milage.

The japanese and germans, build great cars around great engines and drivetrains. Form follows function. The big three tends to prototype an existing engine, add new parts then stuff it into an existing platform. I.E. putting a turbo, on a 2.4l engine and putting it on a plymoth breeze chassis. Basically putting a 5k engine into a 5k existing platform, then selling it for 20k. It's all just created then trown together, and wind tunnel's don't mean anything really anymore, cars are all smoothe and round and an SRT isn't ever going to go fast enough on the street to have it make that much of a difference. If they are as areodynamically sound as they say they are then why not get a plymoth breeze, they are strikingly similar. The car wasn't designed as much as they say, it was thrown together then marched out. Put bigger rims, rotors, and stickier tires on a neon and it will handle and break the same.

They come riced from factory, because (and you are right) it's aimed at a crowd. The fast and furious racerboy crowd. They use the common words, that people who don't really know anything about cars, but understand becasue of the fast and the furious. Wing, Turbo, Getrag manual trannsmission.

A wrx is a platform sorted out, to ralley and road race. Suspension, breaking, engine, shifting. It is a great car to do whatever you want to do with it.

SRT-4 is a neon with a turbo and a big break kit. Unispiering to drive and look at. FWD is probalby the worst platform to mod unless you are a grip driver. And then even after that there are 15 cars i'd rather have that are FWD before i'd consider an SRT-4.
