Things I hate about people in the sport compact sceen

I have a stock WRX for now and here are a couple of things I've noticed since I got it are.

1. Every fricken car on the road with an exhaust revs on me, no matter what. The worst is if we are sitting side by side at a light, and they are reving on me when it's red then don't race once it turns green, Cause I always let them go unless it was pre determined that we were going to race. If you drive around and pipe every single other car that has been modified please stop this!!!!!

2. This is the big one, I utterly can not stand people who buy or build fast cars (STI's, WRX's, EVO's, SRT-4s, cobra's, WS6's, supra's, built honda's, or anything else modded that falls into the cattagory of faster then 85% of all other passenger vehicles on the road) JUST to go out and race near stock civics, calaliers, neons, or anything that runs a fricken 16 second + quarter mile. Why? some of my friends are like this, they never race a car that is close to equal or better then them. It's stupid, now that I have my car I will never brag about raping a focus by 40 car lengths, I won't even race one, what's the point.

This was all brought one because of two of my friends one with an EVO RS and one with a built up EP3 with a greddy drag kit. My friend with the EVO rev's all over me when he see's me but wont ever line up, infact ran a red light today just so he didn't have to sit next to me. If you drive an EVO and wont line up with a stock WRX you are a vagina, plain and simple. Him and my friend with the EP3, who also wont race me (because AWD is an unfair advantage), got their car and did work to go out and beat focuses by 100 car lengths then go around and talk smack about it. Buying a fast car to go blow the doors off of slow cars is like taking steroids to win the special olympics.

Also I've noticed a bunch of people I don't know are like this, two kids that drive STI's rev all over me all the time. I've sat beside them at lights a bunch of times and they never race, ever. Is it that they are afraid that their true ability might be unearthed. Because it takes no skill at all to beat a focus with a fart pipe if you are in an STI, hell you could probalby miss 3 gears, or go from 1st to 4th and leave it there. I think it's the fact that they know they suck and don't want to get embarresd by something that they should beat but know they have to do close to perfect to pull off. Case in point my friends RS EVO, at the track he's managed to pull off a 14.5 personal best, OUCH.

So if you are one of these guys that has to do this, for manhood issues. Please stop this, it's starting to get really old. Anyone else please eleborate about stories of the same nature.

A friend of mine runs a Modded SRT-4 and i have found out that people do that to him so my friend can rev back so the kids can hear the BOV

Ok, I dont have a Subaru yet. But this is related to your reply... I have a Slightly modded Cavalier...and i beat the majority of the Civic/Integra population around me....Well this slammed Civic came next to me revved like crazy....light turns green i smoked 1st....went to second, and then i just pulled right on by after i chirped 3rd....get to the next light. He asks me "What are you running?" and i reply "Chevy" well, he then says to me and i quote "Well let me pull over and connect my Bottle!" I told him, "I dont need a bottle" he then says "Well I do, I have an HX" so i just told him "Than why try me then? My car sure as hell doesnt sound nor does it run stock" ???? I dont understand Honda owners....

Well sometimes if a civic or whatever is all beside me trying to go I'll show him whats up, but as soon as I start pulling hard I let off, and give them the 4 ways. But for the most part I don't pay attention to them.

But by all meens I don't go out looking for 16sec + cars to beat the hell out of. Unless it's a mustang, cause beating those guys is real fun. If it's an 80s GT I'm all over those guys.

I hear you guys talkin about this all the time, however in the year and a half that i've owned my wrx, I've only had two guys rev their engines at me, and one of those was my friend who was joking around. Anyway, I've never had this problem you're describing. Maybe it's because of what 2ndregime said earlier, they become "vagina's" when they see a wrx.

Here in Phoenix/Scottsdale, I have the opposite problem -- I don't have ricers revving their engines at me (athough there are plenty of them around)... it is people with BMWs and Audis that seem intimidated by my WRX and want to show off. I can't tell you how many times I have come up behind a 330 CI or an A4 and had them suddenly downshift and jump on the gas; VWs also, especially GLs. I even had a "soccer dad" in his BMW SUV (not certain whether it was the 3 or 5 model) peel away from me at a stoplight, then purposely slow down so that he could be side-by-side with me at the NEXT light, then do it again!

I suppose this is a reluctant (on their part) recognition that the WRX is a little Japanese car to be reckoned with, for the money, and on a few occasions I have indulged them in a little spirited driving, but I do find it odd that I get more Euros giving me a hard time than ricers. As others have said, it is very regional as to what kind of people are inspired to challenge you. I'm certain that in Texas it would be Mustangs and Camaros revving at you...

Word, within the bay area it even changes...lexus and audis want a piece in palo alto and los altos, then civics and preluds over in san jose...but everyone seems to want to see if they can beat me. I don't race them though...except for one night on 280N against an S2000 (I know, it's faster, but I wanted to play...)

Talking The babysitter move.

Well I have a little different anoying thing here in the Northeast.
First off I have an 04 2.5 wagon. No performance work at all, but I like to drive fast.
I hate it went a Civic (or whatever) has to catch up and sit on my *** at 85mph+. I move over figuring he wants to pass me - well they get in front of me then slow down.

WHAT THE F*@K?!!!?

So I take off again leaving them behind. About 5 minutes later he's back on my ***. I had a guy do this 9 time on my way through PA. a few weeks ago. I finally just went faster then he wanted (or maybe could go) and did not see him again.

Man if you want to go fast, just go, why do you need a babysitter?

Maybe he forgot his bottle at home.

I like to have a car to pace, that way they get pulled over and I don't =) I was following a kitted RSX one time, doing a steady 85 or so, but I eventually lost him because I wasn't about to start weaving thru traffic, 10 mins later I see him pulled over.

I live in San Jose and haven't had anyone rev up on me in the 6 months I've owned my 04 WRX... Where are they??? Maybe it's because I have a wagon, which makes it even more fun playing with some Mustangs and BMW's. I did get owned by and old POS 280Z ouch... and a Supra, what was I thinking???
