could be red line synthetic... the 75-90 ns has a yellowish color, sort of resembles puke for lack of a better description.

Is it manual or automatic, you don't say which?
Manual gear oil will be clear-yellowish in color. Auto trans fluid is usually red but there might be different types.

Well if it's auto I'd certainly expect the transmission fluid to be the usual red or pink if it's not burnt. If it were burnt it would be brownish and have a burned smell.
In the automatics the front differential has its own fluid that is separate from the auto trans fluid. This is conventional gear oil and will be light yellow in color. Perhaps your shop is looking at the diff instead of the trans- do they even realize the two are separate?
