Arrow turbo effects on tranny

Ive pretty much revamped my car from inside and out and suspension,, one of the few things i havent tackled yet is a turbo,, thats normally most people top 5 but i literaly have redone almost everything possible except for that factory turbo,,, i have 03wrx 48k ,,, no tranny problems yet but thinking of upgrading turbo, ive been told it adds alot of strain on your tranny is this when most people start replacing trannys when they switch turbos? what would be powerful but smoothest on my tranny?
