Transmission Won't Come Off
I'm working on replacing my clutch and ran into a snag. No matter how I lift, lower, shake, turn my tranny, I can't get it loose. The passenger side has about a 1/4" gap between engine and bellhousing, but the driver side it tight.
I've tried pushing it back straight, and starting again, evenly to no avail. I read about the fork thing, where you take out a 10mm plug then do something else...but I don't think I have this.
Is that a WRX only thing?
HELP ME!

I am almost positive you have to pull the pin out to loosen the forks. Its behind a plug at the 10 o'clock position with a hex hole in it. You will never get the tranny out if you dont. Bad news though... I hope you took my previous advice and got a new throw-out bearing ordered, because the fork guides are probably messed up now from pulling on the tranny. This happened to me before on my first removal. Whatever you do, DO NOT reuse the same bearing if the fork guides are even slightly bent. All it takes is a small crack in one and they will eventually break... you will be pulling the tranny again sooner then you would like to. If it is messed up after you get the tranny out, and you get quoted an outrageous price for a new one (over $50), shoot me a mail at RRZAMUDIO@HOTMAIL.COM. I have a brand new boxed and sealed OEM bearing (if you're reusing the stock pressure plate).

Still not seeing it, am I blind? 10 O'clock.... Looking towards the front of the car from the drivers seat it is at 10:00? Inside where the starter is?! AHHH.....! Are you sure 2.2's have this?

In the States, its on the drivers side. Your picture just misses where it should be. To make it easier, find the top of the fork where the clutch actuator is and imagine the axis of where that fork pivots, the plug should be there. I went out to see if I could snap a pic of it, but the starter is in the way. I am pretty sure 2.2s are the same. Subaru has a habit of reusing the same parts for different models. The person who told me about this when I was having trouble getting my tranny out said he ran into the same snag... on his Evo

was your 2.2 turbo from stock? if so, yes. you need to take the shaft out from around the shift fork.
If your car is NA 2.2, then there is no shaft because it is push type clutch. Make sure all the bolts are out and then use plybar to seperate the tranny from the motor.
in states, there is 2.2 turbo from legacy and 2.2 NA from impreza and Legacy.
