I don't think you can get a 6spd under 3.5K. If you did, consider yourself very lucky. The alternative route, and probably the cheapest in my opinion, would be to get the STi RA Gearset swap.

My question though is, if you're already spending so much money on getting so much power to the wheels, why are you limiting yourself to a small amount for the most important part of the car that gets that amount of power to the wheels? You'll need at least 4-5K for the part and labor to do the swap for the 6 speed, which would probably be the most reliable tranny you can get for what your power levels.

PS: Have you changed your internals yet? A tranny won't be the last thing in the back of your mind when you push that 30psi to the limit....

I think the RA would hold. I think he has already done engine work. I run 16 psi now on stock and i'm no where near 400hp. Also if he's even considering 30 psi he has thought ahead. I would say go with the 6 speed though and it should have no trouble. RA will be cheaper though.

What mods have brought your car to 400whp @16psi? what kind of TQ numbers are you getting with your current setup?

To be honest with you if your running the above numbers and have built your engine and fueling to support the 30psi you quoted then there are a number of other things you might need to do at the same time such as axles, diff swap (R180) and so on as the 30psi would be putting you at a fairly high whp/tq number and in that arena random parts start to break.

Personally I cannot vouch for whether the RA gearsets will work for your application although I have yet to see one break and have had the fortune to be belted into a rally car with a set where the driver does some dodgy 25mph+ dumping it into 1st manouvers and generally drives it like he stole it and yet the gearing still shifts true.

Actually if anyone knows of a RA gearset breaking can they post it here with a list of the mods on the vehicle as it would be nice to lay this one to rest and see what the actaul people who have broken them have to say.

I hear GB/MPJ have a pretty good deal on them installed right now... *plug*
