shifter popped out

If it doesn't feel right replace it. I have had this happen before but only after changing my clutch it does'nt feel any different though. So if it feels different replace it there may be a hairline crack in it, after all it is only plastic.

yeah, its obviously not the male end, a new "female" side insert cant be too spendy and that should cure it. Do be careful installing it again, dont want to damage the new one. Use lots of grease and try to get it in with one hard hit from a heavy rubber mallet.
