sticky/notchy shifter feel

I posted this in the tranny forum and over on nasioc...not much reponse. since this forum is uber active I figured I would get some answers

Im at about 5200 miles now on my STi and the shifter is getting sticky. It just all of a sudden got harder to shift into 1-2-3-4. It used to be quite smooth with the added STi short throw, but now its down right difficult to get through the gears sometimes

is this a lubrication issue or is something else going on?

I've always had to wait for it to warm up before shifting was smooth. Shifting in the morning the first mile or so was a PITA. I'm assuming it's the stock tranny fluid and there hasn't been any change or any grinding?

In the summer when it's hot my A/C stops working and tranny gets sticky/notchy. Last summer the problem was mitigtaged by changing to Redline tranny fluid. It's come back again this summer however, but my tranny fluid is a bit low so that might be it too.

Still, the wrx does have an inferior feel to many cars so I mainly just bite the bullet on that one.

I ran the stock fluid for about 15k miles and didn't notice anything odd. It's not the best feelign tranny, but it was never that hard to shift either. I put in NEO RHD fully syn up to now with 42k miles and haven't noticed any change (better or worse).

Have you thought about taking it back tot he dealer and warrenty it?
