Short shifter on STi?

Can I install a short throw shifter on an STi such as kartboy or cobb? I am wondering this because of the reverse lock out. Also would I be able to perform this or would I have to get it done by someone?

If my memory serves me correctly you already have the STi shorth throw shifter. What are you wondering about reverse lock out ? It is an easy take out / install. About 1 1/2 hours if you are good with your time and know where to look. You can have someone do it for about $250.00 or so I was told before I made the decision to do mine on my 03 WRX. Good Luck

I guess I was just a little confused if I could put a Kartboy shifter on the STi because of the lockout.
