are you fwd or awd? if you are awd the sti unit will fit. but you just need the adapter. i have one for sale new it goes for $50 make offer.... another route if you do have awd you can get a 02 wrx shifter linkage and just buy a short throw lever. much cheaper. i tryed doing this on my fwd finding the linkage is different from fwd to awd. if you have fwd or you have awd and your broke you can go the DIY route. here is a link how linky

I had a look at those B&M shifters and its for the 93-95' Legacy, but as far as i know the 92' and 93' models are exactly the same, i'll go down to the auto shop tomorrow and see what they have to say. Might grab a shift light while im at it
I'll let use know how i went.

Just got the B&M shifter for the 93' Legacy, doesnt fit, and what a pain in the a**. Those dam snap rings. The part where the new shifter bolts onto the gear selector was to small, i tried squeezing my gear selector with pliers to make it more narrow, the shifter fit on, just, but it was very tight and it didnt want to move or select gears, i played around with it a bit but no luck. Took everything out and put the stock shifter back.

Na its all coo, i also thought that the 92' and 93' were the same. The actual gear selector arm that comes out from the gearbox side(from under the car into the cockpit) on the 93' is a different shape to the 92', i guess they dont make sports parts for the 92' for that reason, my car wasnt intended as a sports car, but if you see what ive done to it looks like nothing but a sports car, and as for why they made parts for only the 93' onwards im guessing because thats when the turbo model was released and they made sports parts intended for the turbo model which also fit the NA.
