I think your question is answered.
I have the Kartboy shifter and absolutely love it. First gear is sort of a pain sometimes but well worth it.
I got the **** to go with it and HOLY CRAP does it get hot in the summer! I also stripped the **** and shifter when installing it so I had to go to many hardware stores to find the right tap and dye.

A knuckleball purchase is not complete without driving gloves.

I just bought a used STi shifter and it is pretty decent. Definitely feels the same height as stock but has much shorter throws. I really like it. I have never driven a KB so I can't compare. Apparently the KB bushings are worthwhile... I may get these soon...
Question, I didn't notice when I put it in but is the STi adjustable?

I too debated this question and ended up with the Kartboy with bushings. All seemed well, but it became increasingly difficult to get the car into 1st and reverse, usually at a stop from neutral, and 1-2 shifts would never be very smooth. So I took it to the dealer last week and had to approve a possible $550 transmission breakdown, cost contingent on if they found anything and whether it was covered under warranty or not. They called today to say to ask me about the shifter and who installed it. I told them it was the very popular Kartboy and that I installed it. The dealer said that my 1st gear and synchros, reverse and synchros, and 3rd gear and synchros all had issues, like worn teeth. They determined that it was caused by the Kartboy lever rubbing on a metal plate at the base (I remember reading about this but never noticed it after install) which in turn put undo stress on the rest of the linkage and was keeping the linkage from doing the right thing into the gear box. So, I needed all of the above replaced to the tune of about $3k. :-0!!! BUT, if I were to purchase and have them install the STI short shifter and linkage for $383.00, they would forget about the Kartboy existing and do the whole job under warranty! Well, hmmm, duh, what should I do? They are ordering the parts for the transmission, installing the STI shifter, I've got a loaner car, and in a week and a half I'll have a new tranny! So, I guess that the moral of the story in my case is that you get what you pay for but you may pay for what you get.
They both do the same thing in the end...
If you want the shift **** lower, don't mind cutting the metal ring so you won't hit it getting into first, or cost is a factor, Kartboy is the way to go.
If cost isn't so much a factor, you want a simple bolt on piece requiring no further modification, or if you prefer the current shift **** height, get the STi

shoot. i meant perrin. but Cobb has a good one. it's "double adjustable".
Two locking nuts holds the adjustment in place with no rattle nor slip. Maximum height for stock shifters is 9.5"; the COBB Double Adjustable Shifter has a maximum height of 11.2" and a minimum height of 7.45" (that's a delta of +1.7" and -2.05" with almost infinite adjustability in between). Throw can be adjusted from stock throw to 70 percent shorter. With this much adjustability, care has to be taken to prevent shifting faster than the synchros can mesh. -COBB website. sounds really cool. pricing is 135
