Short shifter for a '93

Short shifter for a '93
I am utterly stumped in finding a short throw shifter for my '93 Impreza 5 spd. It seems all the latest levers are for the newer trannies. I'd really appreciate anyone's input as to what I should do. Somebody said to go with the STi linkage, then it would fit any new lever but I don't have the funds for a whole new linkage AND a new lever so how do I get around that?

i am currently running into the same issue. i have a 93 as well. but the reason for this respond is not to help but ask for your help. i ask that if someone lets you know what to do if you would be kind enough to e-mail me and let me know? aslo, if i find a solution, i will be happy to let you know. my e-mail is rbrick220@hotmail.com. thanx, hopefully there's a solution that will work for both of us.

RS shifter
I drive a 93 L sedan. I saw on scoobymods where the shorter shifter out of a 2.5 RS will fit on ours. I scored one for 5 bucks off of Ebay. It is out of a 2001 2.5 RS. I will let you know what I run into when I get into the swap.

if you do the linkage let us know but i got my short shifter from http://www.rallitek.com/
and the shifter from a rs WILL NOT fit because the fitment is oposite of ours and year change was 97 some if it fits a 97 and newer it wont work

Great... I may be out 5 bucks unless somebody else on here wants to buy that shifter... I will need to read that article on scoobymods again looks like, oh well.
