Exclamation Shift lock solenoid

I am attempting to locate the shift lock solenoid on a 1992 Subaru Legacy L wagon. I can use the override button to get the car out of park but I would like to locate the solenoid so I can repair the problem. Does anyone know where it is located or can you point me to a manual that shows where it is located?

Thanks,

S McTigue

The location is on the right side of the shift lever . Its under the carpet . There is two electrical connectors they are plugged into the solenoid and the park postion switch. If you have any problems let me know. BTW its the white connectors, the brown or its blue cant remember is plugged into the gear postion indicator.

I have a 95 Legacy and my shift lock doesn't like to move when its cold. I live in MN so lately the temps have been below 20 degrees at night so when get in it for work I have to work the heck out of it to get it to unlock. I've taken the center console off a few times to spray some lubricant on it but that still doesn't seem to be a perminant fix. If anyone knows a fix please let me know.

I am having the same issue with my shift lock not wanting to work when it is cold. Anyone know what I can do about it? I have a 99 Impreza Outback.
