u hear the car go vrooooooom while it's only moving very little. most people ride the clutch when they aren't quite used to the car yet, so they are not familar with the clutch's 'biting' point. DOnt worry, u'll get the hang of it

That's what "riding the clutch" has meant in my 20 yrs of driving. That's what the dead pedal is for (to rest your foot on when not engaging the clutch).

Most of the other explanations on here is what is referred to as "slipping the clutch". .......although I don't know what you would call "too much gas, too little clutch".

oldguy and kean is right.

when you want to disengage the clutch or coast, put the car in neutral and let off the clutch.
