Well I have around 14,000 "fun" miles on my STi and would like to change my Trany fluid. So I went to my local Redline store and picked up some 75W90 Redline High-Pro gear Oil.
The bottle says that's it's GL5 rated and it's the weight that the owners manual recommends but........
On the back of the bottle it says......"This product is not designed for use in most manual transmissions, since the extreme slipperiness may cause gear clash."
Now I know the STi 6-speed isn't most "manual transmissions" so you think I'm good to change the fluid out w/ the Redline fluid?

I don't own an STi, but when I changed mine, the shop recommended Amsoil 75w90 over RedLine, & they sold both. You may want to check out Amsoil if the RedLine isn't going to work with your tranny. I've been a happy customer with it too, if that counts for anything!

Amsoil is more profitable for its dealers than Redline, so almost all of them will recommend it. If you want to run Redline, get either Superlight Shockproof or 75w90NS. Both are better for the synchros than standard 75w90.

So THATS why my 5th gear takes 8 whole seconds to engage without grinding

Damnit...
Well at least it's not the worn out synchro I had thought it was...

Redline MT-90 is much better for your synchros.....
