overfilled tranny by about 1/4" on dipstick.. too much?

Did a big ol search on this and didn't find much. Doe's anyone know if 1/4" over the full line on the dipstick is too much? No adverse effects have been noted in the performance of the 6mt but... how much is too much?

and yeah, I do beleive that the specs subaru lists are a *bit* high.. i measured the last fraction of a liter with a graduated cylinder and still came out over.. ah well.. live and learn right!

thanks for help and comments

1/4' high when hot, maybe not too much to cause a problem. 1/4" high cold, then yeah, you should drain some. Just loosen the plug to the last thread and let it dribble out.

Yeah, it was measured cold.. I went ahead and drained some via the plug. Now I can sleep at night knowing my 6mt is not drowning. and to be honest, that Royal Purple (despite what I've been reading for years) works great in the STi's 6mt. Smmmmmmmmmmoooooottttth compared to the valvoline dino I'd run the previous changes. Got about 1000 miles on it now. No grinds (never had anyway) , no weirdness, AND a better 2>1 shift for autocross. Till someone brings a better gear lube to Hawaii, I'm happy with this.

But it sure did taste/smell bad when I tried to siphon it...
