My car revs without the clutch in

Okay i had a leak in my up-pipe the flange was missing two nuts and the gasket was blown...so anyways i think i had my utec tuned with this leak. I got this problem fixed (the leak) but now when i drive my car if i punch it in 3rd, 4th and esp 5th around 4 grand it revs to about 5500 (it happens at different rpms usally around this area though) the mph go up and when the speedo catches with the rpms it car continues on, but if i give it a lil gas it doesnt do this. Is this cause of the utec or is my car just screwed?

Your clutch is slipping, sounds like you need a new one.

Definitely sounds like the clutch is slipping. If you can't afford a new clutch right now, baby it and you'll get some more miles out of it. After a while, and if you treat it nice, a while could be a long time, it will get to the point where you'll accelerate normally and it will slip like that.

Your wrx=owned. Check out an Exedy organic clutch with chromoly flywheel, always a good choice. It normally runs $725ish for parts.

Or you spilled oil into the tranny inspection hole onto the clutch during uppipe installation.

But, most likely your clutch is dead.

Cool clutch

don't get exedy, they're basically oem clutches. a little better then the product you get from the subaru factory but same design. go act street disc. act lightened fly wheel- sacrafice hi end pwr for lo end gains. you won't be disappointed.
oh yea-- i like that utec! ~

They're not "basically" OEM clutches- Exedy made the WRX and STi OE clutch. But upgraded is upgraded- the one kidatari refers to (which I have on my own car) is better than stock in terms of max torque holding and reduced slipping. I'm not sure what you think is bad about "factory design."
