Angry Little things **** me off (side-stepped clutch close to idle)

So I was in the parking lot letting the car warm up a bit before I pulled out and my girlfriend starts at me cuz someone is waiting on my spot... "Make them wait" I say of course, hell my car needs to warm up, if she wants the space that badly she can wait a minute. Anyway so my gf keeps at me and ticks me off a bit so I decide to pull out but then change my mind. Anyway long story short I end up essentially sidestepping the clutch (let up off it really really fast) because somewhere in the fluster it gets left in 1st when I thought it was in neutral. So the cars lurches forward and stalls. A string of curse words follows that my girlfriend rarely hears from me. Rest of the drive that night = me pissed and my girlfriend as silent as can be.

P.S. I know this didn't help my tranny but it shouldn't have hurt it too bad right? I was surprised how violent the lurch was considering I was at or near idle... I can't imagine these people who talk about dumping the clutch at like 5,000 rpm. It must rocket off! (Leaving the tranny behind of course...)

I think your car will be fine. Think about when ever people stall a car out when they don't give it enough gas..

I think ( and of course hope) that my car will be fine also. I thought about how people stall out cars when they don't give it enough gas but they are usually letting the clutch out slow. I totally just took my foot off of it cuz I thought it was in neutral. I figure when the engine is near idle it doesn't produce too much torque so hopefully it felt worse than it was... Thanks for the reassurance thought man.

Your car is fine. We know how little torque there is from a EJ20T at around 1k rpm.

The good thing is your front bumper didn't hit anything as the car jerked forward.

Amen to that. I would have pulled out some even more serious curse words (not sure there are any) if that happened! I know there's not a whole lot of torque down there but it just felt like crap. Felt like no slip, just bang and stall. Anyway.

yes. you're car is made of glass. stalling it will kill it.

Lol, made of steel. Sure they break when you do a high rpm clutch dump because its crappy steel, but they can take a stall lol

Your car is fine.

Now, go apologize to your girlfriend if she hasn't already dumped you for being so neurotic.

the only thing you do when you lug your car is put stress on the main bearings and the crankshaft, however stalling is short and quick.
