forget ra/ppg. sti transmission all the way. parts list inside
I finished doing my swap and will post pictures up as soon as I have time. In the mean time here is the exact list I used for every single part needed for this swap.
**note, my car is a 2002 wrx with a 2006 sti transmission**
2006 sti transmission (went with this 06 sti trans because the gearing is the same as 2002 wrx diff, no need to change diff's, however if the dccd is not used, the transmission from the 06 sti will default to 60/40. 60% in the rear and 40% up front. Having said that, our 02 wrx rear diff's will not hold up too long, so a sti diff should be used in the near future. ---make sure you get the sti cradle because the wrx transismission cradle is different-----also, your sti transmission SHOULD come with the reverse lock out, and the shifter linkage, you will need all this-----
driveshaft from a 2006 sti. (I used my stock rear diff off my 02 wrx because I wanted to see how low I can keep the cost down because if I used the knuckle/hub's I would of had to buy struts etc...). Therefore I used my stock rear diff and just enlarged the holes on the sti driveshaft) OR......just buy a auto driveshaft for $50, The guy I got my transmission off of gave a sti driveshaft so I just use that one (score=FREEBEEEEE )
you can reuse your wrx flywheel/clutch/starter unless you want to upgrade for clutch (note; sti starter and wrx starter are the same). I already had a act light weight flywheel and heavy duty clutch kit so I left it alone. **note; light weight flywheels in a 02 wrx sometimes throw a cell for misfire***
reuse your wrx front axles with these part numbers/parts. Stubs (part # 38415AA110) and seals (parts # 806730042 and 806730041)
** NOTE; there is a left and right seal, therefore they have different part numbers, dont screw this step up-arrows on seals will tell you if the seal is left or right** and also circlips (part #805329010)
---if you have a 02 wrx you have female axles. By buying the stubs/circlips and seals you can reuse your female wrx axles. parts/axles are really easy to swap into the sti transmission. (email me if you have any questions on this).
**NOTE*** YOU NEED TO USE THE STI CLUTCH FORK, NOT THE WRX CLUTCH FORK****
now im not sure if I had to use the 06 sti slave cylinder, but I did just because my transmission came with one.
LAST..... gear oil.
let me know if I missed anything or left anything out......
oh sh*t.....My transmission didnt come with a shift ****, so I ebay'ed that sh*t. $13 shift **** shipped to my house
