Durability of the Gearbox

Regarding the 02 WRX, if I were to upgrade the Clutch and Flywheel to something like a Stage 1 Clutchmasters or other Stage 1 Clutch with a lightened flywheel, would I be increasing the likelihood of damage to the transmission?

I know that there is some question about the integrity/durability of the gearbox, and I don't know enough about the differences in Stage 1 clutches to determine if I would just be doing more harm than good.

I am looking to upgrade in order to get a more solid feel and to better hold the light modifications that I have on the car.

Any insight about this is appreciated.

Precisely why I never have and never will drag race my autocross car... I have had the Thunderbird SC, been there and done that....

That question was actually in regards to frequent 'joyrides' and an autocross weekend every once in a while.

I am on my 3rd stock clutch. I have 22k miles and have over 200+ 1/4 mile timeslips. The car has been running 12's for nearly a year.

With that being said, I think I've been VERY lucky. I know that I'm on borrowed time so I haven't raced the car in quite some time. I'm happy to rest on my laurels.

*knocks on wood* - the tranny feels great.
