clutch question

Excuse my novice terminology here.

I have the short throw shifter in my 04 rex wagon. It is sweetness.

However....

I was wondering what I need to do (modifications) to shorten the amount of distance I need to push the clutch to engage / disengage the gears.

In essence (in novice terms) a short push clutch.

Any info would be appreciated.

The clutch is hydraulically operated and there is no way to change the pedal travel distance to suit your preferences. The only adjustment possible is the master cylinder pushrod adjustment, and this is only done to set the proper amount of free play in the pedal.
So, the short answer (no pun intended) is to get used to your clutch because that's the way it is.

Hmmm... Many thanks for the info gents.

You would think, considering the acceleration of a WRX that subaru would have desined a clutch pedal with less play or space to engage / disengage the gears.

Does anyone else with a short throw shifter find the timing of their shift off with such a large clutch push?

My gosh, when I drive it is like I am using a stair climber on my left leg with that darn clutch!

Anyone else with info?

upgraded clutch flywheel and pressure plate, well, i suppose the pressure plate is the biggest player here, but might as well do it all while you are at it.

it seems to make the travel a lot less, but then again that could be my imagination, pedal pressure needed is sure a lot more though

Any advantages of shortening/ lowering the length to the engagement point?

I've driven 2 cars which are manual. One car, the clutch was left the way it was no adjustments or so. The second car i had, had a minor adjustment to the clutch. The length to the engagement point was shortened quite a bit.

Is there any advantages or disadvanges to adjusting the clutch engagement point?
