let me start off by saying, i don't know much about cars and basically a noob to any mechanical problems. I can install bolt on things but that's about it. Anyways, everytime i downshift from second to 1st i hear a chattering noise like the car is struggling. Another problem I have is when i'm cruisin in the freey and let my foot off the gas pedal i hear a grinding noise coming from my wheels? could it be my wheel bearings or something else? and lastly when i reverse it seems like my tires are rubbing against something. These problems just started occuring yesterday and today. I have an 05 rex..PLEASE HELP ME on what could the problem be and how much would i spend trying to fix them! thanks in advance...

 

Sounds like what I hear when I am putting pressure on first (from second) as I come to a stop or the like, I've heard it in every WRX I've been in.


It would be more of a continuous sound if it were a wheel bearing IIRC. But I'm not sure what this oculd be

Do you have an aftermarket swaybar?
