broke my tranny please help
at the track today and i lost first gear at the first line so thats gone and there may also be a broken differential cause there is a clunking noise when the car is moving so if u would help on some suggestions on what i should do like get a new tranny or replace first or what should i do please help?? also is it under warranty if i have a 4 puck clutch in there or will they say no and make me pay for it?

if you're drag racing with 4-puck clutch, i'm guessing that they're not going to cover it under warranty.
your options are basically a new tranny, or a new gearset and rebuild for you old one.

don't even try to take it into warrenty, you are going to just have to buy a new tranny. you might be able to get away with just replacing some of the gears, but i doubt it. i would suggest getting a six speed tranny, as no one i have heard of so far has broken one, but if you are drag racing a 6 speed probably isn't the way you want to go

i have a 5speed tranny with a rear diff fs or if you want a 6speed tranny i have that to with all the parts to get you going you might have to get new clutch or if your 4puck clutch is good you can probly use that cheers

I busted my first gear at an auto-x a couple months ago. My local shop quoted $1200 to rebuild the tranny including all parts and labor. I ended up buying the RalliSpec V6 STi RA gearset and I added a Quaife diff while I was at it. I had that same ticking noise as you but my diff was fine. I think its just what's left of first gear touching as the input or output shaft rotates.
Don't even think about warranty work. You may call them to ask but you have about a 0.0001% chance of getting warranty work from Subaru for a modded car.
The RA gearset and the Quaife are perfect for Auto-x but if you don't want to drive at 3800 rpm at 80mph then put the stock gears back in and quit drag racing. I wouldn't even drag race my car with the RA gearset. Its just too hard on your powertrain. If your clutch holds a lot more torque than stock then you may consider dropping down to a lower torque clutch to save your gears.
Check prices for gearsets at www.rallispec.com and www.gruppe-s.com. If you want a stronger gearset then look for the new APS gearset which is rated for 325 ft-lb or continuous torque if I remember right.

A 4-puck clutch with a stock trans, or just about anything short of a full dog drag box, is pure lunacy.
If you are making under ~400hp the stock clutch, properly driven, is just fine.
If the tires don't slip and the clutch don't slip, the trans IS gonna break.
