Anyone try 140w gear oil in the tranny?

Ok, so I have a helladumb question. I know lots of folks have played with different brands, weights, synthetics... blah blah.... anyone try thicker oil?

I've heard MANY complaints with synthetics, and that the synchros need a certain thickness to work correctly. How 'bout upping the oil weight???

Anyone whose tried this post up your results!

I'm specifically interested in non-syn or synthetic blend 85-140.

I'm extremely pleased with Redline Lightweight Shockproof. It's actually a 90w140 full synth, but it's got additives that totally rock for synchro action. Try it- I guarantee you'll say it's the best $30 you ever spent on your car.

Edit, Eh, I usually nag people for posting such short, generic reviews. Here's the full scoop:

At about 50k I had a new clutch and flywheel put in, and Royal Purple MaxGear went in with it. I immediately picked up a frequent grind on 4-5 shifts, and had more frequent issues with reverse and 1st gear from a stop. I was never really happy with it. Still, I figured I'd just learn to drive better (and I did) and live with it. Then last week, at 80k, I put in the shockproof. Haven't had a grind yet, and on my first test run, I rev-matched into first at almost 30 mph (basically at redline) and the gearbox wasn't even warm yet. Then I autocrossed last weekend- I probably don't need to bother rev-matching below 20 mph anymore. I can actually feel the synchros working faster than they used to, and I still have a stock shifter with Kartboy bushings.

Cliff notes: Lightweight Shockproof rules.
