tranny and diff. gear oil??
I am going to change my oil on Wednesday and change my tranny fluid and diff gear oil... Since I have an automagic(4EAT) 2004 2.5rs, since this will be my first tranny and diff oil change,i cant decide what to use for tranny fluid and diff.?? Checked out NASIOC, here, rs25 to see which is most reccommended and used but few stated what they used..So I was wondering for any 4eat guys, what do you guys use?? Also is it any difficult to change the tranny and front and rear diff.?? Checked the manual but didnt show how to change transmssion fluid and diff. gear oil...Oh yeah also the manual stated some cars are equipped with rear diff.Stupid question but mines has right??? Unsure about it...
Thanks for looking guys,
p.s. back to playing fast and furious game..lol

front diff can take the regular gear oil (75w90???) something like that. I forget which atf I put in but it wasnt anything fancy. Not too many high end oil companies like redline or royal purple make atf. As far as how much atf fluid to use...I dont remember how much I put in, but it wasnt the 9 qts that the manual said. rear diff (yes, you have one) I dont know what to put in, but someone once told me that lsd's need a special additive, but I'm not sure if the rs's have lsd's. thats about all the info I can give you at 2 am

I've posted this information before when my WRX was an automatic.
Front Diff - 75w90
Tranny - ATF
Rear Diff - 75w90
Front diff is approximately 1.5 quarts
Tranny is about 6-8 quarts depending on if you flush the torque converter when doing an oil change on the tranny.
rear Diff - approximately 1.2 quarts or so
I used Redline 75w90 in both F/R for a while. Then I switched to Amsoil 80w90 gear oil
I used Redline D4 synthetic in my transmission fluid then i switched to Amsoil ATF
You do NOT need any special additive for the automatic rear end.
fluid changing is NOT difficult at all. Rear end you'll require a 1/2" drive breaker bar to remove the LOWER plug to remove the gear fluid. You will put that plug back in and remove the top one to fill it. You will fill it all the way until gear oil starts to drip out from the top hole.
transmission. many different methods. easiest is to just drain the case by removing all fluid from the drain plug and filling it back up with fluid and checking your dipstick after every quart and adding accoridngly. You could also (recommended) to drain the TC so that you can get as much fluid out as possible. A lot harder and can damage your tranny if you don't know what you're doing. fill on the DRIVERS SIDE
Front diff, easy, just remove the drain plug and drain. replace plug. fill on the PASSENGER SIDE 1.5 quarts of gear oil

i just did a search for "diff fluid" and got this thread on the first page. https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...ght=diff+fluid
you must have typed in "poon" instead of "diff fluid".
