Am I overpowering the stock clutch?
I have a '02 WRX with a Turbo XS stage 4+ and STI engine/trans mounts. I think I am in the about 250 to 280 hp to the wheels, I dont have a specific number I have never been dyno'ed. Anyways, when I am in 2nd or 3rd gear and really get on the gas over 4,000rpm the car doesnt speed up like it should. The tach is increasing, but the car isnt speeding up like the tach shows. I dont smell anything when this happens. Is this the clutch not holding the power I am putting out? Or is it just my butt dyno not feeling it? What have you guys that have similar power using for a clutch (stock or aftermarket)?
Thanks

That sounds like you're getting clutch slip when you get on the gas. To be safe, I'd go with a stronger clutch. But when you do so, people have said that a strong clutch has broken their gears. I don't know the validity of that, but it's just what I have heard.
