Hey guys, I just have a question. I know it is common for all manual transmissions to hear a whine when reversing. Lately though I have been noticing that whine noise when I am out of gear in reverse.

For example I would be backing out of a parking space, and when I shift into neutral and just cruise out a little bit before I shift into 1st, while in neutral I hear a whining noise.

Does anyone else have this noise or know what is wrong?

I've never heard noticed this before in the 4 years I've had the car, until the last 4 months maybe? I only have about 30k miles on it too. Haven't had my 30k check up yet, I plan on doing that sometime this summer.

 

possibly the rear diff or front diff. Sounds like a problem with the way the ring engages with the pinion.
