'07 WRX, notchy shifting (was: new WRX have question!)

hey guys, I just bought a new 07 WRX the first of last month. I have 827 miles on it. Anyhoo my question is when I'm shifting the stick from 1 to 2nd or from 3rd to 4th it seems notchy like it catches something just below 1st going into second and just below 3rd going into fourth. its a brand new car like I said but I'm not exactly sure if this is normal? I have heard from reading around thats the trans are ackward.

There has been no modifications by the way just stock (no short throw)

any info would be great!

Thanks!

Did you used to drive a honda?

Just wondering because they're trannies are butter smooth. Ours on the other hand are not. Your experience sounds normal. I'd say nothing is wrong unless you hear something wierd or it literally won't go into gear. Sounds normal though.

After my clutch was broken in, my shifts are really smooth. wait until 10,000 miles, you'll feel the difference.

I found that changing the shifter bushings (front and rear) for the stiffer Kartboy bushings made it feel a lot less like I had a rubber chicken in my hands when trying to change gears quickly. Change the bushings and the gear change is a lot more precise.
