What is the launch for a WRX?
What do you think is the best launch for an Wrx.
Mods on the car are:
Bosal down pipe
Apexi N1 cat back
Borla turbo manifold
Yesterday was the first time I ever had it on the track and my best time was a 14.5. I think I should be a little faster, but I'm not sure what rpm I should launch at.

For best TIMES you should drop the clutch at peak boost, probably around 4-5k rpms for your mods. This puts a huge stress on the transmission and is definitely not a good idea on a regular basis, but it should get you some decent times. The other option is to rev the engine to about the same rpms and then slip the clutch. This will smell bad and reduce the clutch life. But, your times will be almost as good as dumping the clutch and clutches are cheaper to replace than transmissions. Perfecting these launches also takes some practice to avoid bogging.

never drop the clutch...slip slip slip...dropping the clutch will cause u to bog...if done correctly u shouldnt smell anything smelling something means u left ur foot for too long (partial engagement) plus slipping the clutch helps build the boost better it takes practice but u'll get it

i talked to a girl at the dealership were i got mine at, and she said that there was a kid that came in twice 2x two times for a problem with his clutch, the first time the opened it up, there was a ball of string between the pressure plat and the flywheel, the fixed it no problem, the second time they flipped out, becasue the figured out what he was doing, rev it and pop the clutch with good tires to find out what he did.
move your head rest up just in case of whiplash.
i am not telling you not to do it, i got my clutch replaced becasue of the cold clutch chatter thing so before i had it replaced i was out burning out every where, even when in like third gear i would put the clutch in, rev it to red line and drop it.
when they took it out i took a look at all the parts the flywheel looked brand new, the disc looked fine nothing was wrong any where so i guess you have to really beat the **** out of it.

I dont know about the WRX I am getting mine in a few weeks, but I do know about All wheel drive and launching. If you are going to bring up the rpms to 40 or 5 grand you DONT want to dump the clutch hard, Every car is differant so you have to find that sweet spot. It takes lots of practice to get it down pat. But any way here you go, this is the proper way you find that perfect rpm range X,xxx rpms since its all wheel drive and turbo I would asume 4,000 rpm or so is about right, you let the cluch up just under were it engages and you let off real smooth not too slow though then you will burn the clutch up. ALso dont let up to fast were you are dumping it and brake stuff. If you use this method it is kinda hard to dump it so hard that you will brake something. after lots of practice you will figure it out. NO DUMPING THE CLUTCH! very hard on parts. Plus it is not going to be any faster in th 1/4 then if you do it the way i said. If anything my way will get you down the track faster. the way to see if you are improving is to go to the track and record you 60 foot times. that is were all wheel drive cars kill the compation. If you dont get that down perfect it is pointless to own a all wheel drive car for drag racing.
Well that is my proven method I am going to stop typing I could go on and on about other stuff but i will save it for later this is way to long now any way, sorry every one:banana:
