WRX STI with less then 10k miles - customer has transmision problems
warranty claim DENIED - transmission service cost $2800 - result customer abuse mostlikely due to high rev clutch drops.
Customer fought this through some litagation with Subaru - result: warranty DENIED - customer now is out nearly $3200 including legal fees.
Service techs can tell the difference between transmission problems and parts failures vs. abuse
Just had to share.

A lot of people have posted and they agree that a clutch is way cheaper than a transmission, especially a STi tranny. I don't own a wrx or sti, but I do own a RS.
A lot of owners say, is to blip the throttle and slip the clutch. try to possibly stay between 4500-6000rpms and launch. i cant say u will or will not get the right launch, but practice makes perfect.
Sorry, but I got a mental image of somebody actually doing this and laughed my a$$ off for a good 5 minutes. Just had to share that. Hi, my name is Toiletbrush, and I'm and alcoholic.....

On the warranty/clutch drop note, I have a friend who owns an 05 STi and loves to do 6K launches with the DCCD in full lock. He has owned the car less than 6 months and the rear diff shat itself a week ago. Last word was, the dealer replaced it under warranty without even asking how it happened. How?
The math:
Thin Colorado mountain air = brain-damaged mechanics who don't know abused transmission components when they see them = Good for all of us!
