Exclamation STI Intercooler

Just trying to find out if any body have installed successfully the STI intercooler on a WRX. What modifications have to be done or if there is a forum on this already that I can use for reference. Thanks in advance.

Yes, true....the USDM STI IC has different mounting locations than the JDM IC.....Ironically the JDM IC fits like a glove on the USDM WRX, but the USDM STI IC does NOT fit the US WRX without modifying the mounting location. I have a JDM STI IC, and it fits nicely...however, I was not able to use the red JDM 90 deg. elbow that attaches the IC intake to the Turbo....I had to buy a radiator hose and cut it to fit. The JDM elbow is too short (length wise). Besides, the JDM STI IC, is about 15% Bigger than the USDM STI IC.

Actually, it's not the bracket that has to be modified on the USDM STI intercooler; it's the throttle body hose that has to be changed. By using a throttle body hose that's about 1/3" longer than the stock one, the USDM STI intercooler fits like a glove, even the Y-pipe elbow that connects to the turbo w/o any problems. Also, the A/C hardlines have to be bent or zip tied down to prevent them from rubbing against the bigger TMIC. Hope this helps.
