Question Intercooler Specs/ Flow Rates- Ideas

Hi all-
I was wondering if anyone has any specs (primarily cfm or flow rates) for any 02-05 WRX or STI intercoolers. Im wondering what kind of flow they have under normal aspiration-no turbo or supercharger- and if it is used in that manor if it will hurt standard flow. Any info, ideas, tried attempts or anything on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

Are you looking to run an ic on a na car? If thats the question...then it wouldn't make you any hp. An air-to-air intercooler can only cool the intake air to ambient temperature at best. The best option for an na car is to run a cold air intake from the fender well or front bumper area.

I want the air to be as cold as possible, the only reason Im quesitoning an intercooler on a NA car is to modify/ fabricate is to keep the air colder than ambient at all times-traffic, heat--whatever---I just am not totally sure of what kind of flow rates or how it would affect a non-boosted motor---thanks!

A stock intercooler is not going to help in traffic. You will develop heat soak from the motor. You would be better off with a cold air intake.

An intercooler works by cooling the hot air from the turbo/sc with cooler air from the engine bay and/or hood scoop. The temp of the air inside the engine bay and coming in the hood scoop is the coldest the intake air could possibly get. You would have no reason to put an air-to-air ic on a normally aspirated car. The flow rate of an ic is rated for boost or positive intake pressure which you don't have on a na car.

The only option that may be what you are looking for would be to run some type of cooling coil inside the intake. The cooling coil would have to be connected to your a/c system or an aftermarket condensing unit. This system would be relatively expensive for the small amount of hp you would gain.
