i need advice on my ej18. should i swap it for a ej20t,ej22,ej22t, or a ej25. im confused and fed up wit bein slow. my freind has a 91 nissan sentra with a sr20ve swap. it runs 13.9 in the quarter. i want that kinda of performance. but i hav a budget. any help or advice is much appreciaed.

The engine is the EASY part.
If you use your stock ECU, you're limited to N/A engines. These are reasonably straightforward swaps, and an N/A EJ25 with some bolt ons will yield around 150WHP
Going turbo is the way to real power, there are dozens of engine combos that will give good power. Stock WRX and STi turbos are cheap and will give 200-250 WHP in their sleep. literally any subaru turbo engine can be used for reasonably good results... The hard part is that you have to do major wiring and you need to either re-wire for an aftermarket standalone ECU or a late model stock ECU to add the extra features a turbo needs. This is probably beyond the scope of what you're wanting to do on your budget, which means your only real choice is an N/A EJ25.
