Help - which engine should I get?
I have an '02 WRX wagon and the engine's shot. And if I'm going to do an engine swap I figured go big or go home so why not swap to an STi . I'm going to do the full conversion, tranny, brakes, etc. But not sure if I should go with a donner from Japan or North America. And if I go N.A. if I should wait and try to find an '05. If any one has any pro or cons would love to hear them. THANKS.

hey bud,
I just did a swap myself, i asked all the experts and everyone said vy jdm spec c motor. its an ej207, like your 205 but all the internals are beffier, and its not a twin scroll. you will save a little money but because its not twin scroll, but it revs faster and harder than a ej257... another great thing is the v7 motor came with the biggest top mount sti ever made... it looks great even dwarfs the usdm one. a couple places to ask around are boxer4motorsports, and gruppe-s, the guys at gruppe-s are awsome! preton there just hooked me up with the v6 5speed tranny swap! but if i was you id say v7 motor, it will be easier for you to get the parts for the non twin scroll! also a side note you get the avcs, and with the spec c motor no tumbler generator valves and the intake manifold spacer where the tgv's would be are a lot bigger! it really is a fun motor!
