Wheel hp for a stock RS, the older body style, is around 120whp.

Well, lets put it this way. The 2.5RS EJ25 phase II motor is the fastest 4cylinder from 0-60ft if that is any consolation? But it is a really punchy motor.

The EJ25 had two versions. One was a DOHC design that was called the Phase I motor. The current EJ25 that is in every Subaru with a 2.5 is a SOHC design called the Phase II motor. If you get an RS from MY99-present. It will have the phase II motor in it. The phase II motor was designed to have good low end and mid range torque and hp. It is quite repsonsive.

Both engines had 165hp with 166lbs-ft of torque.

Well, check with skywalker, he has a 99RS with a Ludespeed turbo kit in it. His engine internals are completely stock. He puts out about 245whp at 12psi, I cannot remember. And there are no problems with the car. He does use this car as a daily driver. The heads flow fine. You can upgrade them for even more flow but it all depends on you application. You could buy an older chassis and do an EJ20 swap like I did. I love it and am putting down around 210whp.

Here is the link to skywalker's dyno chart:

Well he is putting 12psi with stock internals. And it runs really strong. I have sat in his car before and it is a beast.

Green Valley Subaru in Fairfield, CA has repeatedly had '03 WRXs in its ads for 21,995. Why on earth would you buy a used one? With another grand, a WRX puts about 225 at the wheels.
