98 Legacy 2.5GT engine into 97
My question is simple:
Can the 98 2.5GT engine replace the 97 without running into computer problems or mechanical compatability.
I was told by the subaru shop that the 97 2.5GT engine was a beast it's own, and the 98 won't bolt up to the trans.
I was also told the the 97 2.5GT engines were all junk, with the piston slap problem and such.
I'm thinking of buying a 97 2.5GT for a good price, already with engine problems, and rebuilding it but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot!

the shop that told you that is smoking crack, it will bolt up fine! just use your current intake manifold on the motor you are going to put in...you wont run into any problems, i gaurantee it
