best engine setup to swap in a 97 2.5gt
So right now I actually have two 97 2.5gt's. One is totaled because the whole car is tweaked but the engine and drive train are just fine only has 60k on it. The other car I basically bought just for the body, it has 160k on it but still runs just fine.
I would like to turbo the car but understand that the stock block will not hold anything above 5-7 lbs.
So far I think it looks best if I keep the stock DOHC heads so the wiring is a lot easier, but as far as the block goes I'm still up in the air.
My options seem to be:
EJ20T out of a WRX- not enough displacement
EJ22T getting better and seems like a better block overall from what ppl say also probably cheaper because it would be a little older.
EJ25T out of an STI- probably the most expensive option but I would love to still have 2.5L of displacement not to mention 350hp seems feasible with some head work.
What do you guys think? I dont mind spending some decent money if its worth it. I am also not new to turbos/performance work, I am just new to subarus. I am sick of FWD ha ha.
Thanks,
-Mike

Definitely the EJ25T out of the U.S spec STi. More displacement means more torque. Also means more high horsepower potential. With that in your 2.5GT legacy shell.. can we say "a wolf in a sheep clothing"???

The more displacement, the better.
