Question 96 Brighton MT into 99 RS 4EAT? HELP

So I have been looking for a new manual tranny to swap out my auto in my RS. But I also have a 96 brighton 5 speed, and my buddy came up with the idea of taking my 5 speed manual out of my 96 brighton and beefing it up and swapping out my auto in my 99RS? Is this even possible? Or are the gear ratios different. And I dont even know if the would bolt up?
If this would work, it would take so much money out of the question and less stress haha. but yeah, anybody know if this is a do-able situation?

Hmm... I think you already have most of the stuff. I think you'll just need to move the tranny, pedal assembly, master and slave cylinder, driveshaft, half shaft, rear diff, and maybe some other stuff. Oh... wiring. What you'll need to get is a 2.5RS MT ECU though.

I don't have any experience myself, but I think this is the general gist of it.
