99 RS $7,000 - Very Nice Mods
You heard it guys. I have signed to buy an STI and if this car does not go within about 1 week on this site or i-club, then I am giving the dealership the car as a trade in. Dealerships offer 4,000-6,000 for these cars. So if anyone wants it before I trade it in, then act now. In one week it will be history, no ifs ands or buts. No going down on price either
1999 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS
phase II SOHC engine
Black
painted black rims
tinted back passenger windows
black painted calipers
~84,000 miles
Excellent Condition (few minor scratches)
Info
only 93 octane used on all miles
engine runs on full castrol synthetic since 50,000 miles
Mods (did not start modding until 3rd year owned, 60,000 miles)
Cobb cold air intake modified for MAF adaptor
Scooby Torque II racing chip
N1 lightweight pulleys, 3 pulleys
Exedy Lightweight Flywheel (less than 8,000 miles)
ACT Performance Clutch (less than 8,000 miles)
Borla headers
Borla catback exhaust
Random Tech Hi-Flow Cat (later and better model)
STI engine mounts
STI tranny mounts
STI engine pitch stop
STI short throw shift kit
Vishnu Racing braided steel clutch line
braided steel brake lines
KYB-AGX adjustable struts
I could be forgetting something
All performance parts bought new and reciepts for them go to the purchaser.
Engine Repair
recently replaced blown head gasket
recently replaced timing belt
brake pades also replaced
Purchaser will also recieve all stock parts taken off
Notes
As the purchaser may be able to tell, I am not one much for looks but rather for performance which is why I spent all the money on performance only. The mods were placed an all aspects of the car, NOT JUST POWER. The car does show its age but it is only a 99. It will run forever. Whoever gets this car will love it. It is a very fast RS which is just asking to have one of those new superchargers (development almost finished, check out www.rs25.com) put in it. It sounds badder than any impreza (wrx or whatever) that I've seen in my 4 1/2 years as its owner.
$7,000 is the price. Buy it now.

I would totally love this car, however, what happened that you blew a head gasket? And have you ever abused the car, most people would say no, but have you ever rallied it/autoxed it/rallyxed it etc. I am not saying that is abuse for everyone. But I have seen plenty of people out on the track driving like ****, and their cars show it. Also, is the exhaust super ricer? you said it sounded better than any wrx/impreza but is it a deep sound, or is it a rattly(word?) sound? I am sorry to be so prying but I don't want to buy a 99 that is mad f*cked up, I am sure you understand. You sound like you know what is going on and the mods all seem fairly docile. And I am hoping I wouldn't get burned on this question, but are there any known problems like oil leak, blowby, anything ever run dry(oil, tranny, diff, etc.) I would definitely like this car, and for this price it is a super gnarly deal.

XstephenX,
I don't know the seller, but I've heard that 98 and 99 had a lot of head gasket leack/blown problem. Also, if you really want to buy the car. I would recommand you to bring it in to a Subaru dealership and have them check everything out. I think it's only $80 or something. Good luck!

Car has not been rallied or anything else of that nature. I have not abused the car. I am 29 years old and know how to treat an engines, trannies. I did however run the engine to its full potential which is most likely why the head gasket blew. The car is in great shape and anyone who wants to ride in it will believe me. If a buyer is serious, then I will of course take it in to a subaru dealer to have it fully checked, new oil change, new inspection. You see, I have two choices, wait a few days and see if anyone wants to buy it (hopefully) or switch all stock parts back on and then trade it in for ~5k and then slowly sell the aftermarket parts on here or ebay for roughly 2 grand. The most hassle free would be to get it off my hands all at once without having to spend 50+ hours getting dirty returning the car to stock shape. The one catch is that there is one small dent on the rear quarter that I plan on getting pulled out and painted over. It happened at a whopping speed of maybe 5 mph when pulling into a gas station. I turned too sharp and the rear quarter slid across a pole I did not see. As for the man who does not know me, well, my name is Jeffrey Andrew Tibbitt, SSN *0029. I was born and raised in VA Beach, VA and am currently doing research in biochemistry as a graduate student. Go look me up and do a background check. I have a fresh new copy of my driving record and a copy of it when I was like 22 years old, both of which I will be glad to furnish. You would see lots and lots of tickets then and only one ticket in 8 years for this new record. That speaks for itself about the way I drive.
Here is the VIN # of the car
JF1GM6754XG4010906
One other thing,
A couple of mods I forgot to list:
Genuine Subaru Oil cooler
Series to Parallel fuel mod.
I am not bull****ting you guys. This is a great deal and I know it. I have the money to get the STI and 7k from one of you will help pay the loan more quickly. If I do it the other way by swapping back stock parts, its just a big hassle. In grad school, time is money, and it would be better for me if the car is bought as is.

Oh yeah, as to the sound of the exhaust. Ask around to other people who have the borla exhaust. It has a deep gurgly sound. It's not like the huge 3" exhaust you see all the time. Borla is a very reputable company and they back their products up with lifetime warranties. The car sounds like a V8 and is very intimidating.

Stephen,
To help you along in your decision between the 2.5 and WRK, the big question has always been whether or not to turbo the 2.5 -- we all know the engine was not built to handle lots of boost. There is another option which is total badass. Check out the thread of the guys who are developing the supercharger for the 2.5 RS. It is a MUCH safer and more reliable route for the 2.5 -- the boost levels they are setting do not push the engine to its maximum, they rather leave some room at the top. They really know what they are doing and are going to have a top quality full everything in one supercharger package very soon (this fall). If on the other hand, you really want a turbo car, then, buy mine and go out and spend about $3500 on pistons, conrods, injectors, etc. That will get the engine nice and ready. You can then expect to have issues with pushing the limits on the tranny, but those can always be fixed with a rebuild or with a new tranny. If you want a WRX, they are selling off the lots here in VA Beach for 2k less than the sticker price of 23k. Personally, I always thought that supercharging the RS would be alot cooler because you'd kill people off the line leaving them no room to catch back up, not until 90 mph or whatever. Another thing about the supercharger. You'd be able to keep the badass exhaust setup that the car has on it. The Random Tech catalytic converter is the best available today. With turbos, you have to get crappy little turbo catalytic sections. Oh yeah, the rims are stock, they are just painted black.
Your last question about oil leaks with the engine, tranny, differential, etc -- The only problem was the very small leak in the head gasket that happened at around 65,000 miles. Coolant was leaking out the bottom which was messing up the coolant pressure causing the engine to slightly overheat. It was not a huge blown gasket. I still have the blown gasket for viewing. I replaced both head gaskets and both intake gaskets at that time. It was a pain in the ***. NO other problems have occured. I have also replaced two bushings on the car which are located on a rear cross member bar that stabilizes the driveshaft and rear differential or something like that. Other fluids have been changed regularly (tranny fluid and oil mostly). I'm telling you man, this car is a steal and I wish I saw it when I was getting a subaru back in 1999. I bought it for 20k even at the dealership.

I am interested if the car is still availible. Could you send any pics to rcreynol@vt.edu . You're description is very imformative but i was wondering if there were any signs of rust. I only ask because of your location near the beach. Thanks
