fire extinguisher
anyone know where i can pick up a Halon 1311 fire extinguisher for a decent price. i dont want to have to order it but i i have to i guess i can.
You don't want Halon. If you use it inside the car, you'd kill yourself. Halon removes oxygen from the air -- and you want that :-) It is also a serious greenhouse gas and has been banned in Europe, Canada and many other nations.
You want C02 or PhostrEx.

There is some decent info here, but the information on Halon is erroneous. I used to work at an art museum with a Halon fire suppression system built-in to the building, and they told us in no uncertain terms that if we failed to exit the building before the system went off (it gave you two minutes to get out or to get to a "safe closet" with a sealed door) that we would be killed by the Halon gas. We had a fire drill every six weeks, to drive home the point.

i was thinking more in the event of an engine fire. i dont want dry chemical base because it will destroy the engine and is corrosive. thus they use halon in the aviation industry. on an interior cabin fire co2 would work fine. but the halon would be great for an engine fire.. hope ill never have to use it though.

Halon 1301 is used shipboard in the Navy.
Several Marines have been documented as being dumb enough to release Halon into a glove and then huffing off of it....killed them.....Halon is ideal for enclosed space fires, not open atmosphere.
You would be fine with a CO2 extinguisher. Stay away from PKP powder exhtinguishers becuase they are corrosive to electronics.

I second what Redstage said.
Just got done with a tour on an aircraft carrier and learned alot about Halon. One thing is that it will not work in an open atmosphere. It is more for enclosed areas and the wait time after it is released is at least 10 minutes to enter the area.
Just go with a CO2 bottle.
If you do have a fire and have to use something like CO2, the best thing to do is to rinse it off once the fire is out to prevent any further damage.
Only you can prevent Suby fires.
