had a old reliant that went up like that, parked it went into a store saw whole bunch of smoke when i got out. noticed it was from my car, and my jaw dropped. it was a piece of crap car but it got me where i needed to go. nothing you can do when it starts going like that!

i think the heat wrap probably caused it, ive seen header wrap on a wrx go up in flames before, but damn, that sucks

when it gets soaked in oil it can combust

What really sucks is the fire would have probably smothered itself in the engine bay if the guy would have just kept his hood closed.

Rookie mistake. Remember, if you have a fire in your engine bay KEEP YOUR HOOD SHUT!!!!!!

yeah, it was likely header wrap. That stuff gets oil or whatever on it, and then just the ambient heat will cause it to combust. Scary stuff.

yeah it if finally came in through the dash too, still say if he would have kept his hood closed chances are it would not have spread
