Ok guys, don't get too cocky. Most of these questions are obvious to Subaru owners, but not really common knowledge to the general public. Porsche has made the boxer engines famous, but it isn't really common knowledge that the boxer is a basic design and not a specific motor. Another thing, all wheel drive isn't usually a standard feature. Most companies offer it as an option on select vehicles, but it usually isn't standard. There are plenty of people who don't know that ALL Subarus are awd.

The first time I heard a WRX with a loud exhaust on it I thought it had a smallblock Chevy in it. Gotta say, the boxer does sound like a casturated smallblock V8.....

I second that - they sound pretty decent . First of all, PLEASE NO F*CKING ACHY BREAKY HEART. ><!!!!!!!

And yea I didn't say I disliked hondas or anything, I think the s2000's are pretty cool cars. And honda does build extremely reliable and well built cars that last seemingly forever. I was just saying I think its funny when the guys come around in the completely riced out honda's with the funky paint job and they try to provoke you lol.

And gijow - you've taken it completely out of context now. Its the stupidest questions from our perspective. If they open their mouth about something they don't know about in the first place, we are by all means welcome to think what ever we would like to about them. The questions asked are obvious to us, and it makes them that much funnier .

Red face

It's not really that dumb of a question when someone say's " That has the Porsche motor right?" I mean well yes that's dumb to ask because it's a Subaru but Porsche has the "Boxster S model" which can be confused with the Subaru "Boxer" motor. Similar in design and name but not quite the same.

As for people asking if it has AWD or "Do a burn out"......guess they've never seen Subaru commercials or advertisement? In the ads it always has something like " Subaru's AWD is the topic pick for safety ratings for so and so, because that's what make's a Subaru...... a Subaru. Come's stander on all model's" or something like that.

But it just might be the dumb part of their brain that kick's in and thinks " OMGHI2U it's fast do something crazy dude!!!!"

Angry How can you respect someone who's so ignorant about cars?

I think why every one hate’s the Honda crowd is because there too cocky about them self’s. Yeah they have a lot done to their car and know what part’s do what but that doesn't apply to all cars in general. Air intake’s work well on N/A cars but not very well with our cars unless you have some type of tuning to go along with it. Yes they are good car's and can preform well ( WITH THE RIGHT TUNER AND DRIVER) but not some teen kid who think's he's Paul Walker and can drive under semi’s.

I have this one friend who is so ignorant about himself and "knowing all about cars" that it's just not funny any more. When ever he's around my car he is always telling me to do this and do that because you'll get better top speed and 1/4 times. Like 1/4 times are all that count's. I try to tell him "our" cars are not made solely for 1/4 drags but then he just comes back with "well why do you have AWD then"?

Ever heard of rallying? " Will do you rally?" I'm about yea close to socking him in the face......

First of all I apologize to the mustang/camaro crowd. I must have worded my comments wrong cuz that was not my intent. I used to own a "90 fox body 'stang and still miss it every day. I was aiming more at the ignorant honda crowd in my specific area. I think only 2 hondas around here actually have any real mods that work and are owned by someone that actually knows why they did it. A good portion of the detriot boys and girls know what they are talking about or have the ability to ask intelligent questions. And as for the gay wagon owners, the article I read said lesbians specificay. Which my wife sometimes says I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body but thats not the discussion here so I leave it at that.

speaking of ignorant people....my co-workers bf thinks I'm stupid for putting 91 in my car and thinks an STi rear spoiler does nothing (thinks it doesnt create downforce or atleast neutralize lift). He has yet to actually say this directly to me, just through her

oh yeah, hes ASE certified or something of that nature

The AWD decal doesn't give it away?

The sticker gives it away if you are looking at the back of the car and really paying attention. I guess the awd thing was a bad example, but my point is that Subarus are very different from other cars, that's why we love them. Since they're so different we have to give people a little credit for taking an interest and remember that the things we know about our cars aren't common knowledge.
