The R32 is a nice VW, My friend who works for this guy who has one, sent his R32 to Canada and it came back with 590 horsepower. I've been trying to get the guy to let me drive it around his own personal track one good time...wish me luck. Stock vs Stock R32...WRX..I would think WRX would win because of the weight advantage.

I'd get an STi over an R32 any day, or something a bit cheaper like an EVO.

Road and Track this month VW R32 0-60 5.8 1/4 mile 14.1
WRX road test summary 0-60 5.7 1/4 14.4.
So it is safe to assume the R32 has the top end of a drag race. A $300 mod would fix the gap. So a WRX is still cheaper than an R32 with the same amount of speed. Handling is what this VW is all about. The drivetrain works like a Skyline except, power is diverted to the rear wheels when needed, instead of the other way around, as it does in the top of the line Skyline. But would I pay 30,000, I dont know. I would like to see the R32 vs. the STi and the Evo on a track. See who puts down the best times.
