The cars you really have to worry about are the ones that look like pieces of **** that have a huge engine. I don't know how many times I have seen someone get cocky because they think the guy in the next lane is a heap. Some people, me included, love to get a hold of a piece of crap car and put a rediculous motor in it just to screw with people. Ever heard of a Shelby Charger. They are quick and look just like a 93 mustang. 4 cylinders wicked turbo set up and full of **** and vinegar, it's a quick little demon.

The only stock mustang I've ever lost to is an svt cobra, the only camero is my dads 1969 Z28 (beautiful). And this is on a drag strip might i add. I used to own an Integra gsr and yes around a curve its faster but it cant get goin anything like my wrx. A porsche boxter (all but the new type s or whatever) is slower than a wrx, from experience and magazine numbers. And why are we talking standard wrx and the highest of everything else. An Sti can probably slaughter the cant beat list.

Yes with the introduction of the STi sitting around the bar talking nowdays, is all smiles from me and my subaru buddies. Even those who've never experience AWD turbocharged power are very curious about the STi...
And for the modest price raise over the standard WRX I imagine the STi will own all.
Although what about this RX-8 comming out... I really like that car although I imagine it is slower. But if they do release a turbo or twin turbo version, which has been talked about just a little bit, that would be interesting.
None the less before someone starts slamming about street racing again. I will get going, thanks for all your responses def. a great thread.

My car. I have a 1970 Camaro SS. It has a rebuilt small block 350 with high compression piston, flowmaster exhaust, 12 bolt rear end, 400 turbo tran, Edelbrock 17 inch torque thurst look-a-like wheels, and a beautiful primer black paint job. estimated 375 crank horsepower.

Out of a smaal block 350? You must be running some fairly high compression. Do you have a cam or anything else or is it stock short of the pistons? If it is pistons then I would say that is fairly optemistic. And that RX-8 is ugly. It has four doors. Not what I think of when I think sports car.

faster in the corners??
Just a note for all of the coments about how a wrx is sooo much faster in the corners. I drive a subaru, and I love it, but as good as they do in the corners, for the last 6-months we've taken a back seat to a 99 cobra at the autocross events.
Any well built car has the capability of doing many impresive things, wether it be runing fast in a straight line, or doing 40 through a 180 degree corner in a parking lot at your local scca event. It all comes down to whats in-between the seat and the steering wheel

From experience, ive been beaten by my friends 03 rsx type S on the freeway from a 60 mph roll up to 90 he was about 1-2 car length ahead of me. I was wondering if the rsx type S is faster up top at higher speeds than my stock wrx, because I think its just me because I am not a good driver yet. And I heard in this forum somewhere that S2000s will lose? I dont know about this one...

kind of off the wall
this kinda pertains to this topic i guess...
i raced a mildly worked dodge stealth twin turbo last night...if my car was stock he would have blown me off the road...we went from a roilling start(25 mph) on a highway and both took off, i had him thru second and as soon as i hit third i was gone...i pulled off at the next exit ramp and he blew out his 3rd gear going in to third...so i dont know how it would have ended up...
