If your saying you hold the clutch in while you rev it up no that's not rev matching you have to double clutch if you don't your synchros are rev matching not you.

That's what I was doing, holding the clutch in and reving it then letting the clutch back out... what is double clutching? How can you double clutch if the car only has one clutch? I'm lost...lol

Thanks,

-Nigel

you dont HAVE to double clutch on trannys w/ syncros, but you must on dog boxes. the reason ppl w/ syncro trannys double clutch is so the syncros dont have to bring the engine up to speed while downshifting...its to save the life of the syncros basically

Brake dust. Definitely brake dust. Gas mileage is also not as advertised. Everything else is great. No rattles in my car.

Yeah, you guys are right. The STi really does just fking suck. I'd be glad to take them all off your hands, and I'll do it for free too. PM me if you're interested.

Glad to see that experienced stickers know how to up/down shift with rev-matching that some of us old f---s learned at our pappy's knees in the days of no synchros. I remember well when a Chevvy in-line 6 came with a synchro for 2-3! (About '45/6/7 or so). Yes, Virginia, there is a real pleasure from getting down the gears from 115 or so with never a jerk, just putting all the stuff in the back of the car into the foot well where you can then sort it out.
