sti survey
I was interested in Rally and curious about AWD performance cars. I wanted to buy a new car and was awaiting the Evo to be released. The WRX interested me but I wanted to see what the evo had in store. By the time it was released the price was much higher than expected and I decided that I would go with a WRX. I would have to say that I am much a rally fan but if the WRX didn't meet my wants for a performance car I wouldn't have bought it.
When I test drove my STi I felt like I was driving a piece of the actual rally car. I basically already knew the specs but when I sat in it and drove it that made the final decision. I could have bought another car with similar specs but I will admit that being a Rally fan made the STi a must have.

My first Subie was a '00 2.5RS. I still have it, but added to the stable when I bought an '04 Sti last year. I started noticing Subies after getting hooked on watching WRC, but had trouble finding one of the early 2.5s. They didn't make a lot of them those first couple of years. As it turned out, I'm glad I waited since the '00 models had the LSD in the rear. When the WRX came out, I wasn't real happy with the looks. I never even test drove one. When the Sti appeared in the magazines, I drooled over them big time. I still like my 2.5. It's been a great ride. The Sti is even more awesome and I'm glad I have them both. Both are still stock, although the 2.5 is in need of work now after 5 years. Some things are finally starting to wear out, like the rear wheel bearings.

I in-fact fell in love with the bug-eyed style sti from watching WRC. I love those races!!! Then with the newly fashion body of the 04's came out I had to have one, before long I found myself staring at the back of an enormous sti hood scoop

I really love the STi dont get me wrong but i would much rather have the GC8 coupe body style STi ive been looking to get one imported because I love the look of those so much better than the current one but thats just my own opinion I did fall in love with that car tho cause of the WRC when i was watching it when i was like in the 6th grade and have wanted one since I have a 99RS coupe but really want the JDM STi cant wait till i can afford one of them
I think it was the spring of 00, I was looking at a friends car mag and noticed the wrx. I was intatantly addicted to its looks. Then i started watching WRC here and there. After a while, I fell in love with the idea of drifting snow covered dirt-road corners in a wrx. Over the years of researching upgrades and performance specs of upgraded wrx's, I knew it was the car for me. Everyone thought i was obsessed.. maybe i was. I could never afford one till recently.. so picked me up a good ol' sti.

I bought my STi, because I have always been a fan of imports.
My entire family is domestic crazy, along with most of my friends.
So, when the STi came out, I had to have the only true domestic (mustang and chevy) stomping import that wasnt a "super car".
I also knew that I would need AWD, as a buffer for my learning curve. I had never driven a quick car.
