Late 80s K-car motor... benchmark of quality for sure! And I'll believe in the reliability of a 19psi Mitsu motor when I see it.

The only thing that jumps to my mind about late 80's K-car motors is a head gasket isssue... hmm... sounds like another car company I know of... Anything else? Bring it on...

How many K-cars you see on the streets today? About 15% of what was sold, if that. What DIDN'T go worng on those things?

I see more of them than old Subarus. People dont realize what good cars they have, and dont take care of them. Insurance companies don't like them either, so instead of paying the money to get them repaired, they total them out. And for only being 15%, theres a hell of alot of em. They were designed to be inexpensive, and they fulfilled their purpose of saving Chrysler. How many of the other economy cars from the 80's do you see running around in show room condition?

There were a lot more Chryslers sold then than Subarus, plus back then Subaru still only sold in the snowy areas. Anyway, the facts stand. All Japanese manufacturers whose board of directors had to call a press conference in the mid 90's to publicly apologize for building POS cars, raise your hand. Mitsubishi, ok, and who else...? Oh. Just them.

Im all for bashing Mitsu, but leave Chrysler out of it. I had to get the Subaru because I was tired of constantly fixing the engine in the Shadow. The rest of the car is great.
