fwd with no lsd it's open diff so it's got no traction unless u throw some slicks. as for it being a POS that is mistaken. the motor and tranny are crazy. teh build quality is one thing. it will smoke us stock for stock in the 1/4, slalom, basically a lot of stuff. which sucks. more reason to mod the cars.

It may be fast but
A. It is still a dodge that will fall apart after 60,000
B. They made a car that runs 0-60 in like 5.5 and its only $19,000???? They had to cut corners somewhere
c. It looks tacky...almost as bad as the new body eclipse

i wouldnt lie and say that the SRT4 is not fast, cause it is, but it leaves you to wonder how much more you can do to that car, it is already got the most power a neon will ever see. The 215 rated is a complete understatement, a friend here dynoed his Neon and got 235WHP, thats pretty impressive but as youll already said, its still a ugly stupid dodge neon

Being a Mopar person, I gotta stick up for the SRT-4 and Neons in general. The Neon has received many awards for quality. And Just because its under 20 grand doesnt mean they cut corners. Check out the prices for regular ones, around 15-16,000. Add a little for the spoiler, racing seats, front airdam and hood, and the rest goes for the engine. Dodge has put more powerful engines into cars in the past, and I have one of them. They take economy cars and make them faster (sound familiar?) The Shadow was the lowest priced american car, and they put a turbo in, and also a MMC V6. A few appearence things were added (fog lights, power buldge hood, ground effect, and a spoiler), but it was mostly about the more powerful engine. My stock 10 year old car has beat almost all the cars Ive raced. Its held up remarcably, but I still have to sell it. The engine burns too much oil at idle, so theres a cloud of smoke when I take off. But dont forget the engine was made by Mitsubishi, so its not "another POS Dodge"

I hate to say it, but I have to give some respect to KGB for not only defending Dodge but also for using the Shadow as his argument.
...that said, I'd rather be run over by a Neon than drive one, my chance of survival is better.

Personally I hate Neons
but I have to admit that the SRT-4 is very impressive in terms of power. There is a guy in my area that just bought one, took it to the track a few times, and he ran a best 13.9. For only 20K that's some serious performance for the money.
